The two main types of guilds are the merchant and craft guilds.
Merchant guilds:
-an association of traders or "business men"
-able to negotiate and trade became regulated.
-the agreement of taxes between the guild and lord would result in a merchant guild charter.
-Merchant Guild charter allowed the merchants to pay an annual payment to the lord who owned the land where the town was located
Craft guilds:
-there was a craft guild for every craft or trade within the city
-similar rules as Merchant guilds
-applied the rules to trade
Firth and Religion guilds also existed but were not common.
